  7.    Before proceeding, it is important that you have completed the
  8.    following steps:

  10.    Step 1:  Install the scanner interface card in your computer.
  11.  
  12.    Step 2:  Connect the scanner cable to the interface card.
  13.  
  14.    Step 3:  Run the installation of Twain Data Source.
  15.  
  16.  
  17.   If you have not finished these steps, please refer to the scanner
  18.   user's guide for more details.

  20.   Here are some tips on how to use your scanner and to avoid problems.

  22.    1. Installation
  23.  
  24.       When you install the interface card with other peripherals, be
  25.       aware of the address conflicts with other interface cards. If the
  26.       "Interface card not connected or I/O address conflict exists" message
  27.       appears, please check Appendix B of the user's guide.

  29.    2. Getting good image quality
  30.  
  31.       2.1 Keep enough Windows free space by closing the unused Windows
  32.           applications.
  33.  
  34.       2.2 Do not move your mouse during a scan since this may affect
  35.           image quality.
  36.  
  37.       2.3 It is recommended that you recalibrate the scanner if the
  38.           scanned image becomes darker after a period of time.
  39.  
  40.    3. Scanner self calibration
  41.  
  42.       3.1 Make sure there is no paper in scanner during calibration.
  43.           This disrupts the calibration process and results in imprecise
  44.           images when you scan.
  45.  
  46.       3.2 Please click the SCANNER CALIBRATION button in the Setting
  47.           dialog box to recalibrate the scanner.
